How the estimate is built

The estimate starts with a base rate scaled to audience size — an illustrative dollar figure per 1,000 followers that varies by platform, then adjusted for the content format (a story is quick and disposable; a dedicated video is a production). That base is then multiplied by an engagement adjustment: your engagement rate compared to a typical rate for the platform, clamped between 0.5x and 2.5x so it nudges the price without swinging it wildly.

The result is one point estimate plus a ±20% range, because real deals settle somewhere in a band, not on a single number. Use it as a documented starting point on both sides of a negotiation — creators can point to how the number was built, and brands can sanity-check a quote against it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the exact rate I should charge or pay?

No — it's a starting-point estimate built from two widely used rules of thumb: a base rate per 1,000 followers and an adjustment for how engaged that audience actually is. Real rates also depend on niche, exclusivity terms, usage and licensing rights, whiteslisting/paid amplification, deliverable count, and plain negotiation. Treat the output as an opening number to sanity-check against, not a final price.

Why does content type change the rate so much?

A dedicated long-form video takes far more production time and holds attention longer than a 15-second story, so it's typically priced well above a feed post, while a story — cheap to make and fleeting — is priced well below one. The multiplier here is a rough reflection of that effort-and-attention difference, not a fixed industry rate card.

Why does engagement rate move the price?

Two accounts with the same follower count can have very different reach — a highly engaged audience is more likely to actually see and act on a sponsored post, so brands generally pay more per follower for it. This tool compares your engagement rate to a typical rate for the platform and scales the base price up or down accordingly, capped in both directions so one outlier post can't skew it too far.

What if I don't know my engagement rate?

Use the Engagement Rate Calculator first — divide your recent posts' average interactions by your follower count (or reach) to get a working figure, then bring that number back here.

Estimate only, not a guaranteed or industry-standard price. Actual sponsored-post rates are set by negotiation between creator and brand and vary widely by niche, market, and deal terms.
